- By DAVE AND SUE GALE

Bramall & Hamid pick up maiden victory

Paul Bramall and Sohail Hamid were busy this week, but picked up their first win by beating Charlie Gould and Oliver Jarvis

PAUL Bramall and Sohail Hamid took their first win in the GA Solicitors MLTC Winter League Men's B Division.

In a tightly contested game against Charlie Gould and Oliver Jarvis, all was equal with each pair winning a set apiece, but with the possibility of winning their first ever Winter League match their incentive, Paul and Sohail took it on a tiebreak to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-5.

Fresh from their first Winter League win, Paul and Sohail were then beaten 6-4, 6-0, 3-6 by Andrew Regan and Pete Ireland before a third game in the week saw them lose 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 to Simon Dixon and Dave Gale.

Miki Booth and Kevin Wilkins started well against Jon Jacobs and Rich Rawlings, taking the first two sets 6-2, 6-4, but Jon and Rich found something extra in the final set to take it 6-4.

Miki Booth and Kevin Wilkins edged a close encounter against Simon Dixon and Dave Gale winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, while the father and son pairs of Brian and Jack Morgan and Simon and Matthew May met in a very competitive match which was won by Brian and Jack 6-3, 6-5, 6-1.

The Men's A clash between Arash Dinari and Lawrence Hay against Rhys Williams and Ryan Parsons, saw some great tennis played with the first two sets shared. The deciding set had some great winners down the line by Ryan which meant Rhys and Ryan came out on top, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
