A NEW twin-bay hangar has been officially opened at Teesside International _Airport, marking the single biggest private investment at the site in decades.

The G0ft-high facility was opened at a packed event on Monday.

Spanning 330ft by 160ft, the new hangar is fully equipped to service Boeing 737 and Airbus A320-family aircraft, including next-generation models. It’s the second hangar at the airport belonging to Willis Lease Finance Corporation, the leading lessor of commercial aircraft engines and global provider of aviation services

This hangar was initially announced in April 2025 as WLEC subsidiary, Willis Aviation Services Limited (“WASL’), started construction. The new £13.5million facility will complement WASL's long-term Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations at Teesside International Airport.

Willis offers what is described as a nose-to-tail service, providing everything airlines, lessors and third-party owners need to maintain, care for, and store their aircraft at Teesside.
