MP: 'NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS'
This car in Grangetown appeared to have a bullet hole in a back seat door
A NIGHT of chaos erupted in Grangetown with a series of violent incidents.
Residents told of the “scary” scenes on Richmond Court and Sandringham Road following a shooting, an arson attack and a home being “driven into” on Thursday night.
Police descended in numbers on the area in the aftermath of what they described as “linked and targeted incidents”.
A vehicle - with a bullet hole in the side of it - remained on Sandringham Road inside a police cordon yesterday.
A resident has told how “lads with machetes jumped out of a car” on Richmond Court on Thursday evening.
They then set a car alight after “attacking people.”
The witness said: “The car was blazing and then the car they were in started reversing into a house, it smashed into the house about three times and they all drove off.”
Cleveland Police said that a 43-year-old man was taken to hospital with a “serious injury to his arm after being assaulted”. “His injury is not currently believed to be life-threatening,” they added.
A spokesperson said: “Police are currently in and around Richmond Court in Grangetown after an earlier series of incidents there which are all currently being linked. We received numerous calls from shortly after 6pm.
