Security measures in place for polls

The 235,000-strong PNP went on full alert status starting at 12:01 a.m. yesterday, which will last until 11:59 p.m. of May 15, or three days after the elections.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil assured voters of their safety when they cast their ballots at polling centers.

He said police officers across the country are ready to thwart lawless elements that might be plotting to disrupt the electoral process through violence and intimidation.

“Our personnel are committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the election period,” Marbil said in a statement.
