|August 02, 2025
A total of 5,688 applications for registration have been processed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Central Visayas on the first day of voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Of the total, Cebu recorded the highest number with 5,483 applications, followed by Bohol with 205.
Comelec-7 Regional Director Atty. Francisco Pobe told The Freeman that public response to the ongoing voter registration—scheduled from August 1 to 10—has been very positive.
“So far so good. Maayo ang response sa public jud,” Pobe said.
To further increase voter turnout, especially among the youth, Pobe encouraged new registrants to take advantage of the registration period so they can participate in the upcoming elections.
“To all new regular voters turning 18 and youth turning 15 this time, I encourage you to avail of the registration period provided by Comelec because the upcoming election is for you,” he said.
Pobe also urged the public not to wait until the last day to register, emphasizing the importance of early registration.
“Be counted and be part of the electorate that will shape our community development and progress,” he added.
As of 12:00 p.m. on the first day, around 300 individuals in Mandaue City had already registered at the Comelec site in Pacific Mall.
