Our original sin
The Freeman
|September 21, 2025
This article has nothing to do with any biblical teaching. I truly regret the fact that while I read and continue to reread up to this day voluminous law books, I failed in my youth and up to the present to study much less understand the holy bible. When I title this article as “Our original sin” it only refers to the probable main cause why we have the so-called Trillion-Peso March on our streets today.
I like to open this column today with a view of a possible mindset of politicians. Nowadays, when a person plans to run for a government post, he is immediately confronted with the terrible idea that money is the key. Those who don’t possess the logistical requirement for running for an elective post just simply throw away their political aspirations.
For purposes of this article, I consider a candidate for a local government unit with a voting population of 100,000. Of all the expected expenses, the smallest budget that a would-be candidate prepares for should cover campaign operations. He needs to complete a small group of seven reliable personnel to form his staff. Led by a campaign manager, who should possess a distinguished organizational talent; these personalities include a financial expert, lawyer, propaganda mind, communications wizard, master logistician, knowledgeable transporter, and masterful field commander.
