Not fair for PWDs

The issue of fake Person With Disability (PWD) IDs is rearing its head again, this time with Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival himself admitting that fraud and abuse in the issuance of PWD IDs persists.

"Importante nga ang ayuda moadto g'yud sa mga tinuod nga PWDs nga nanginahanglan og suporta," he said in a report in this newspaper. He added that he has ordered to tighten the city's verification system to ensure that only qualified beneficiaries are able to use this type of ID.

Armed with a PWD ID, anyone, even someone able-bodied and with no disability at all, can ask for a discount from any establishment. Little wonder why many would be willing to use one, even a fake one.
