Officials said the initiative aims to curb impersonation, cheating and other unfair practices by enabling real-time verification of candidates’ identities at multiple stages of the examination cycle.
Confirming the move, Secretary of Higher Education Vineet Joshi said facial recognition technology would be used during examinations, while live photographs of candidates would be captured at the time of submitting application forms. “This system will be introduced from January, beginning with JEE (Main),” he said while interacting with the media.
