EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was born on September 15, 1950, in a small village called Sadulpur, in the Rajasthan state of India, to a family with a strong business background. His father, Mohan Lal Mittal, ran a steel business in the town of Kolkata. From an early age, Lakshmi showed an interest in business and an acute understanding of the industrial world.
