A CHARITY campaign to raise funds to build self-contained flats for young people at risk of homelessness has smashed its target of £250,000.

- by CORNISHMAN REPORTER

YMCA Cornwall, based in Penzance but covering the whole of the county, achieved the fundraising goal for its housing appeal in just under nine months.

Called Your Help, Their Future, the campaign was set up to build four flats where young people could live independently and was launched in June last year with a £70,000 donation from the Duke of Cornwall's Charitable Foundation.

YMCA Cornwall currently supports 50 young people who were previously homeless or at risk of becoming so, with a further 46 on the waiting list.
