Big wins for dance company in European competition

YOUNG dancers from west Cornwall embarked on an 18-hour journey across land and sea to compete in the DanceStars European Championship in the Netherlands.

Members of the Big Dance Company, based in Chapel Street, Penzance, entered the contest in Eindhoven alongside more than 1,500 dancers from 90 other schools around the globe, battling for coveted titles in ballet, jazz, contemporary and open categories.
The event kicked off with a win in the Under-13 category for 10-year-old Isla Swann, quickly followed by victory for Lexie Franklin in the under-15 advanced open category.
“The Cornish Pixies continued to dazzle, bringing home an impressive total of 16 European titles, a record achievement for the dance company’, a spokesperson said.
