ROBERT PIRES is confident Arsenal can sustain their Premier League title charge and finally end their two-decade drought - thanks to their summer spending spree.

The Gunners, four points clear at the top, splashed out £250million in the off-season - compared to less than £100m in the previous two transfer windows combined.

And club great Pires, a key member of the Invincibles squad which clinched Arsenal's last title in 2004, believes the reinforcements will ensure they don't drop off the pace after three consecutive seasons finishing second.
