Probe into Maddie suspect 'not over'

German investigators vow to keep going despite Brueckner release

PROSECUTORS have vowed to continue investigating the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, despite his release from a German jail.

The pledge comes days after Christian Brueckner completed seven years in jail for the rape of a pensioner in Praia da Luz — the Portuguese resort where Madeleine, three, went missing in 2007.

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters, who first publicly named Brueckner in relation to the case in June 2020, said there was “still a lot happening’ in terms of active inquiries and added the probe “definitely won't be finished this year”.
