Kat ‘rewrites story’ after medal joy

EMOTIONAL Katarina Johnson-Thompson shed tears of joy after banishing her Tokyo trauma with World Championship bronze.

Competing at the same stadium where she crashed out of the 2021 Olympics with a calf injury, Johnson-Thompson won her fourth global heptathlon medal in dramatic fashion.

In the last of seven events, she needed to beat rival Taliyah Brooks by 5.8 seconds in the 800m to overhaul the American and take the final place on the podium.
