Councils’ duty to ‘beat hate for Jews’

PUBLIC servants and councillors have a "moral responsibility" to help stamp out anti-Semitism in places such as libraries, town halls and parks, Communities Secretary Steve Reed says.

Mr Reed, below, has written to council leaders in the wake of the attack on Heaton Park Synagogue 10 days ago. He said: "Many incidents occur in public spaces... meant to bring people together, not be misused to divide us or spread fear.
