MANCHESTER United should target Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins as part of their rebuild, says former Old Trafford hero Paul Ince.

goal-getter Ollie, insists legend Ince

After Manchester United suffered their worst league result in 50 years, Ince says bringing in Watkins could be the start of getting the team back to winning ways.

The 29-year-old forward was impressive for the Villans this campaign adding 17 goals and 14 assists in 54 appearances.

Former Brentford and Exeter forward Watkins is seen by Ince as a proven goalscorer who can consistently add attacking value to a Red Devils squad that is sorely lacking in its ability to put balls into the back of the net.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Ince claimed his former club's current players were 'mentally weak'.

The former Wolves, Liverpool and West Ham midfielder told the newspaper: “They badly need more firepower. And I'm looking at someone like Ollie Watkins - a striker who can actually score goals as a player United need to be going for.”

Ince added: “If you picked your best 11 players from the Premier League, you wouldn't have one United player in there.
