Dad jailed day after son born for evading justice for four years

A NEW Birmingham dad was jailed the day after his baby son was born after evading justice for four years.

Andre Walker was caught driving in 2021 despite being banned from the road.

He gave a false name and date of birth to police, who discovered the lie afterwards by identifying him from custody photos.

Walker, 35, of Douglas Road, Handsworth, was charged but failed to appear for a court hearing.

Police next came across him in April this year, when he was caught driving illegally a second time. Again, he gave false details.

Walker admitted perverting the course of justice, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. He was jailed for 34 weeks at Birmingham Crown Court.

Walker had been banned from driving in 2018 and was required to take an extended retest before being allowed back behind the wheel. But he never did.
