Jimmy wants sustained success at Pittodrie

- BY SCOTT BURNS

DONS CAN’T BE ONE SEASON WONDERS

JIMMY THELIN wants to make sure Aberdeen aren't one-season wonders.

The Swedes first campaign at Pittodrie had a silver lining as he led the Dons to their first Scottish Cup triumph in 35 years.

But it’s now about trying to maintain those lofty standards or even surpassing them, starting with another statement win over Celtic this afternoon.

The Pittodrie boss: ‘It's a great competition here in Scotland. There are a lot of good teams.

“Aberdeen have been in some finals so it was good to win something again.

“To be a club that can push for that is difficult. Of course there were some years they won the cup but they have been close too.

“That's the push and the excitement everybody has to feel and believe in.

“To arrive at semifinals and finals, that’s an ambition we have. When you arrive to a final, you have the chance.

“They are always special games. There are so many other things that come into a final.
