Why home-grown food is 'matter of national security'

PRODUCING enough homegrown food has become a national security issue, says the former director-general of MI5.

The war in Ukraine has put “immense pressure” on British farming which the Government must “urgently” address, said Baroness Manningham-Buller.

She told the National Farmers Union conference: “I believe food is part of our critical national security, including the essential workers that grow and harvest it, and the farmers that produce our crops, meat, vegetables, fruit and even wine.
