Crieff Highland Games, set to take place in August, will celebrate its 155th anniversary this year.

- STAFF REPORTER

The Crieff Highland Gathering is a highlight of Scotland's traditional games calendar, attracting thousands of visitors to the town's historic Market Park.

The event, first held in 1870, features a full programme of competitions, including running, youth running, cycling, Highland dancing, heavyweights, light field events, and the fiercely contested tug o' war.

In addition to the sporting spectacle, the Gathering also features piping performances throughout the day and the stirring salute to the Chieftain — a role previously filled by figures such as Kenny Logan, Elaine C Smith, and Ewan McGregor, whose father served as a director of the event for more than 30 years.
