Increase in number of trains to Gleneagles is welcomed by rail group

Members of Strathallan Community Rail Partnership (SCRP) have welcomed changes to rail timetables which are continuing to improve the number of trains stopping at Gleneagles as they continue their efforts to boost travel links to Auchterarder.
ScotRail recently introduced their new rail timetable throughout Scotland, which will operate until May 16 next year.
There have been some minor tweaks to trains serving Gleneagles station, which the SCRP say will improve “direct travel to and from Edinburgh, Pitlochry and Inverness without the need to change at an intermediate station”.
The volunteer-led group - which was founded in 2015 - say there has been an increase in demand for travel routes to and from the Perthshire station and are keen to engage with Scotrail to boost the area.
On weekday evenings, to compensate for the loss of the 7.10pm train from Glasgow, which no longer serves Gleneagles Station, an Inverness bound train departing Glasgow at 7.07pm will now stop at Gleneagles Station at 8pm. The Glasgow bound train from Dundee at 7.13pm no longer serves Gleneagles Station at 8.02pm, but alternatively there is an Inverness to Glasgow train serving Gleneagles Station at 7.54pm.
With regards to the LNER Highland Chieftain, there are slight timing changes to the two daily trains serving Gleneagles Station.
Bill Young, chair of SCRP said: “We are delighted to note that the timetable enhancements at Gleneagles introduced in December 2024 are to continue.
