Hawk Green's maximum return for starters

HAWK Green hosted Tattenhall on Saturday and following a couple of weeks of decent weather the ground looked resplendent and what appeared to be an excellent track for batting on.

On winning the toss, the Greens skipper Dylan Heginbotham had no hesitation in electing to bat first, opening the innings himself with Lewis Clarke. They were facing the Tattenhall opening attack of Adrian Waddelove and Archie Mobbs.

Whilst neither batsmen were particularly troubled by the bowlers both played each ball on merit and during the opening salvos Hampson was the more dominant batsman with a couple of late cuts and cover drives but once into his stride Clarke quickly caught his partner.

With the score on 98 a change of bowling brought about the downfall of Hampson as he stretched to reach a wide delivery and was caught at cover point for 47, 98-1.

Next to the crease was Jack Needham and he was soon into his stride and no bowler was spared as he struck eight fours and seven maximums including some tremendous straight drives and pull shots.
