Masks mandatory at hospital sites as virus levels rise
South Wales Evening Post
|December 12, 2025
A Welsh health board has reintroduced mandatory face masks for staff and visitors in all clinical and patient-facing areas, in response to rising levels of respiratory viruses across the region.
-
Hywel Dda University Health Board says the number of people with flu and other respiratory infections is steadily increasing both within hospitals and in the wider community. As part of the new measures, all staff - regardless of their job role - must wear a surgical mask when working in clinical environments or interacting with patients.
Visitors attending appointments or entering clinical areas at hospital or community sites will also be required to do the same.
