A MAN waved a machete about in the corridor of a block of flats during a confrontation with occupants, a court has heard.

Horror as man waves machete

Scott Parry was identified and caught after police used facial recognition software on CCTV footage - though the whereabouts of the weapon he used remains unknown.Swansea Crown Court heard that in the week before the armed incident Parry had carried out three shoplifting raids on the same shop, stealing goods worth more than £600 in order to fund his crack habit.

Sending Parry - who has more than 100 previous offences on his record - to prison, a judge said there was no prospect of rehabilitation for him at the moment.

The court heard that on the afternoon of February 19 Parry attended one of the blocks of flats on Griffiths John Street in Swansea. The defendant knocked on a door of a flat and a “verbal altercation” then developed between him and the males inside.

The court heard Parry responded by pulling a machete from the waistband of his trousers and waving it about in the corridor as other tenants of the flat passed through the communal area. The 41-year-old defendant then left the flats.
