CAVANN SIBEKO (PART 1)

Cavann Sibeko ended his 10-year professional career with a SAA Supa 8 and Absa Cup titles in 2009 after he was troubled by injuries. "Shakes", as he is affectionately known, started playing football in Tembisa for Sea Robbers before earning a move to the Barney Molokoane Soccer Academy where he played alongside the likes of Gerald Modabi and Seuntjie Motlhajwa. The former midfielder went to SuperSport United for trials after he was spotted by the late Thomas Madigage. Sibeko joined Matsatsantsa, stayed with the club for seven years. He later joined Orlando Pirates under Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic before joining Maritzburg United and eventually hanging up his boots.
“Shakes,” we hope all is well on your side. In the last few weeks, we had your SuperSport United teammate Rufus Mokoti, who kept us entertained with stories from his time in Tshwane. What do you remember about the time you guys spent together?

Last weekend we saw Orlando Pirates make history by becoming the first Carling Knockout champions to beat the All-Stars team, after both Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC failed to do so in the previous two seasons. Pirates were forced to play without several of their regulars as they are in camp in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's charges beat coach Manqoba Mngqithi's team 2-0 to be crowned champions, for the second time in a week. Congratulations to Bucs as they close the year on a high note.
