Be fair to Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs, as has become the norm over the years before every transfer window period have been linked with several potential signings, while they continue to rebuild their team and search for the players of their own interest.
-
But it has gotten out of hand this time around with almost every 'free agent' linked with the Naturena-based club.
It is unfair to the club to be forced to 'explain themselves' to their millions of passionate supporters who must be ringing the office landline off the hook in search of answers and clarity on the rumoured moves. Having said that, there is no small story when it comes to the Glamour Boys as their news always generate a lot of interest, which comes with the territory for a club of their stature. There is no limit to their expectations because, by virtue of their size, everyone expects them to be at the forefront on everything football. The results, players, national teams' selection, continental football, highest quality of imports and more exports to bigger leagues are some of the things people constantly demand to see from Chiefs. So far, several players' names have been bandied about as prospective Chiefs new signings. It makes sense that, at this time of the season, some agents will be making calls to journalists to inform them of certain clubs' alleged interest in their players. By so doing, these guys build up their players' profiles and put them on a pedestal at certain clubs' expense. It is worth mentioning that not all agents go that route and Chiefs are also not the only club hit by this tactic. What's the gain from this tactic? Well, one team's alleged interest in a player draws the competitors' attention and that's when a bidding process usually starts, which means the player in question will suddenly not be short of real admirers. A player who wasn't in demand, suddenly becomes a subject of a tug-of-war from nowhere. He becomes part of important conversations and when one club is alerted to other clubs' so-called interest, they try to speed up signing that player in order to beat everyone to his signature.

South Americans are very fragile
Last weekend we saw Orlando Pirates make history by becoming the first Carling Knockout champions to beat the All-Stars team, after both Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC failed to do so in the previous two seasons. Pirates were forced to play without several of their regulars as they are in camp in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's charges beat coach Manqoba Mngqithi's team 2-0 to be crowned champions, for the second time in a week. Congratulations to Bucs as they close the year on a high note.
