Last week I wrote about heat training for my next mega ultramarathon, known as “the Legendary Marathon Des Sables”, which is 270km across the Sahara and now less than two weeks away.

Clearly the physical challenge of this race is what sets it apart and this week I did my final back-to-back long runs. These are the ones that really put the stamina in my legs.Fortunately, the best running coach for this race, Rory Coleman, had arranged a two-day session at the beautiful Merthyr Mawr coastal park near Bridgend in South Wales for anyone running the race this year.
