Winter chill returns as Storm Chandra blasts into Scotland

SEVERE wintry weather is set to return to Scotland today with the arrival of Storm Chandra, the third named storm of the season.

Parts of the west coast will be battered by gusts of up to 60mph which could cause disruption to road, rail, air and ferry services.

And snow will pile into higher areas of the country, resulting in drifts whipped up by powerful southeasterly winds.

Three separate weather warnings have been issued by the Met’ Office.

It comes as parts of the north east are still trying to recover from unusually heavy snowfall and the subsequent flooding caused by meltwater.
