Scotland set to be 'hotter than Hollywood'

A HEATWAVE hotter than Hollywood could see sweltering Scotland hit the 90s on the Fahrenheit scale today.

Hot air from the Atlantic swept over the country yesterday, bringing with it wall-to-wall sunshine.

Thousands of people flocked to lochs and beaches to enjoy one of the hottest days of the year so far, with a high of 28.9C (86F) recorded at Aboyne in Aberdeenshire.

That was just short of the hottest day of 2025, the 29.1C (84F) seen at Grangemouth in Stirlingshire on June 20.

The incredible weather was welcomed too by the 50,000 revellers at the TRNSMT musical festival at Glasgow Green yesterday with temperatures of 27.3C (80F).

Headliners include 50 Cent last night, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro tonight and Snow Patrol closing the event tomorrow.

Last year, temperatures for the festival reached only around 20C.

Today, Los Angeles in California is expected to be cooler than Scotland, at 27C (80F).
