McILROY'S BIDDING FOR BACK-TO-BACK MAJORS
RORY McILROY believes he is “in a good place” entering golf’s second Major of the year as he looks to replicate his Masters success.
The Northern Irishman completed the career Grand Slam at Augusta last month and now heads to the US PGA Championship — the only Major he has already won twice — which begins on Thursday.
He will hope Majors prove like London buses as he tries to win his second in a matter of weeks, having waited 11 years for his fifth triumph.
The fact it is being held at Quail Hollow, where he has won four times, also helps.
Mellroy warmed up for the trip to Charlotte by finishing in a share of seventh place at the Truist Championship and is bullish about his chances.
“I’m in a good place,” he said. “I didn’t feel like I played all that well this week, I still finished seventh. Even what I feel is my bad golf, I’m still there or thereabouts.
