TV's original Doctor restored for viewers
DOCTOR Who fans are in for a treat this Easter after two "lost" episodes not seen for 61 years were found in a box.
The programmes both feature the first Doctor, William Hartnell, as he tackles a Dalek scheme to take over the galaxy.
They were only ever shown in the UK and after the broadcast in 1965 the tapes were wiped as BBC bosses believed there was no appetite for re-watching episodes that had been shot in black and white.
More than half of the reels remain missing - but the charitable trust Film is Fabulous! (FIF) came across some copies made by technicians to check for problems in case the episodes were pitched to other markets.
They were found among the belongings of an anonymous late collector, whose films were donated to FIF after his death.
