Express Sport revealed on Tuesday that Gers are in talks with the 29-year-old - out of contract next summer - about extending his stay in Govan.

But boss Rohl is keen to get the Scotland ace tied down, having been impressed with his qualities on and off the pitch, and believes he can play a key role for the next few years at the Glasgow club.

He hopes negotiations with Souttar and representatives end positively as he waits for the defender to return from a muscle injury.
