MIOVSKI'S IN BLUE CORNER NOW

- By Andy Newport

I respect Dons but I had to put me and my family first

BOJAN MIOVSKI makes no apologies for thinking about himself and his family rather than disgruntled Aberdeen fans when the call came from Rangers.

The sight of the North Macedonia striker pulling on the blue jersey for his debut at Ibrox on Sunday will have been like a red rag to a bull for his once-adoring Pittodrie public.

One clip showing a Dons diehard shredding his jersey with a knife did the rounds on social media over the weekend.

But while Miovski will always appreciate the way the Aberdeen support took him to their hearts, he made clear his loyalties will always lie with the loved ones he now hopes to have set up for life with his Gers switch.

The 26-year-old was hurled in for an immediate baptism of fire in Sunday’s Old Firm clash just 24 hours after touching down in Glasgow following the completion of his move from Girona for an initial £2.6million.

The 0-0 draw with Celtic was good enough to stop the haemorrhaging of goals that had left Russell Martin fighting to keep his managerial prospects alive in Glasgow.

But Rangers’ title aspirations remain very much on life support having handed the Hoops a six-point headstart only four games into the season.
