JIM GOODWIN is hoping Lachlan Rose arrives at Dundee United as a World Cup star.

- BY SCOTT BURNS

The Newcastle Jets striker has signed a pre-contract with the Tannadice club and will take up a two-year deal with another 12-month club option.

The 26-year-old (below) is one of the top scorers in the A-League and is looking to try and make the Socceroos' squad for this summer's finals.

United have already snapped up Auckland winger Jesse Randall and they are also looking closely at Joshua Rawlins, a right-back who is out of contract at Melbourne Victory.

"Lachlan is a really good signing to add to Jesse Randall, said the Tannadice gaffer.

"They are two good goalscorers in the A-League, the standard there is very high at the moment and is continually improving.

"Both of them are pushing hard to be part of the Australian World Cup squad, so it would be exciting for them if they make it.
