Eagle Football - a group owned by US businessman John Textor which includes a minority shareholding in the FA Cup winners — owns a majority stake in Lyon, who have also qualified for the Europa League.
However, the French club were last night demoted to Ligue 2 due to the poor state of their finances, putting their involvement in the Europa League in jeopardy.
Lyon have the right to appeal against the decision.
