Findlay lays into Swinney for 'peanuts' 61p tax cuts

RUSSELL FINDLAY blasted John Swinney for cutting income tax for some in Scotland by a maximum of just £31.75 per year.

The Scots Tory leader added that it works out as 61p a week which “wouldn't buy you a bag of peanuts”.

During the first First Minister's Questions since the SNP's tax and spending plans were unveiled on Tuesday, he reminded MSPs that a Government tax advisor has said it may be the smallest tax cut in history.

“Does John Swinney really think his insulting tax cut will help Scotland's struggling households?” he asked.
