Axed zoo's whales 'must leave now'

CAMPAIGNERS are battling to have two killer whales from a marine zoo rehomed in a specialist sanctuary.

Wikie, 23, and her son Keijo, 11, are based at Marineland of Antibes, in France, where they were born and have lived all their lives.

But Marineland closed after 55 years in January and an application to rehome them at Loro Parque marine zoo in Tenerife was blocked by the Spanish authorities.

The French government has not yet identified another location in Europe, and rejected a move to a site in Japan.
