A golden ray of breakfast TV sunshine

WITH colourful sweaters and spiky blonde mullet, Wincey Willis blazed a trail for other female weather forecasters.

She was the first woman weather presenter on ITV and Good Morning Britain viewers loved her bright and breezy style and her non-technical approach was a breath of fresh air.

"Most people don't want to know about high pressure over the Azores. All they care about is whether they need their umbrella," she said.

On warmer days she ditched the jeans and jumpers for what she called a "tarty frock" and received stacks of fan mail.

Willis was part of a cohort of women who helped ITV overtake BBC's Breakfast Time in the ratings, along with "Mad" Lizzie Webb doing keep-fit, Rustie Lee's cookery slot and Anne Diamond on the sofa.
