Water warning issued amidst heat wave

Young people in Renfrewshire are being urged to stay away from open water as the temperature continues to soar this weekend.

Scottish Water has issued the warning and is calling on people to stay safe, behave responsibly and not take risks around watercourses such as Stanley Reservoir, local rivers, lochs and nearby beaches during the warm weather.
It comes after figures, released by the National Water Safety Forum, show that there were a total of 33 accidental drownings in Scotland and 193 across the UK in 2024.
