McLeish committed to stay and fight drop

Craig McLeish insists he is in no hurry to be a boss-because he doesn't want to be on the scrapheap by the time he is 40.

St Mirren's interim head coach is playing the long game when it comes to his dugout career.

The 35-year-old has led the Buddies since Stephen Robinson's departure for Aberdeen and enjoyed his first victory after Saturday's 2-1 win over Falkirk.

McLeish will oversee training at Ralston today before the first-team squad are given some time off for the international break.

The club are seaarching for Robinson's replacement with the aim of having someone in place in time for the clash with Dons on Saturday, April 4.

McLeish is content to go with the flow as he learns from how things worked out for coaching predecessors.

"This is what I want to do but I'm not in a rush with it," he said. "If I get opportunities now then great, I'm ready for them, I'm happy to take them.
