Cooper content with Saints' performance despite defeat to Inverurie

Kate Cooper insists there was victory in defeat for St Mirren Women after their 1-0 loss to Inverurie Loco Works on Sunday.

The Buddies returned to winning ways the previous week when they beat Hutchison Vale 3-2 and were hoping to build on that with another Barclays League One victory.

However, despite not collecting any points, head coach Cooper (right) feels the performance against the second-placed side gives her confidence the team are moving in the right direction.

She says their calmness and assertiveness during the game were among the many plus points.

"It didn’t feel like a 1-0 loss actually but I think we felt we controlled the game and we played really well," she told Express Sport.
