Charity urges Buddies not to delay asking for help with council tax

Buddies struggling to pay their council tax bills have been urged not to delay seeking help, as local authorities tighten their rules on recovering missed payments.

Advice Direct Scotland, which runs the free moneyadvice.scot service, said stricter recovery policies are likely to have the biggest impacton vulnerable people.

The charity revealed last month that some households were already facing council tax debts of up to £15,000 before rates rose by 9.5 per cent in Renfrewshire.
