Significant rise is cheats taking disabled parking spaces

HUNDREDS of people misused and abused Blue Badges when parking in Nottingham last year.

Drivers displaying fake disabled parking passes and ones belonging to dead people are among the ways people abused the system.

Nottingham City Council says there was a significant rise in drivers wrongly parking in disabled spaces compared to the year before.

Last year, there were 890 cases of people misusing and abusing Blue Badges - a 28.2% rise from 2024.

The number of instances where vehicles displayed passes belonging to deceased people more than doubled from 53 to 121, while 40 Blue Badges were found to be fake.
