Council gets set to reject quarry plans once again

PLANS for a quarry on land near Clifton are likely to be opposed again by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

A back-and-forth row over the proposals for a quarry just north of Barton-in-Fabis has been going on for years.

The most recent planning application was submitted to Nottinghamshire County Council early last year.

Construction material company Land Logical Ltd says the green land is the perfect place to extract sand and gravel.

But after 18 months and nearly 200 objections by residents, Rushcliffe Borough Council which was consulted due to the site's location has been recommended by its planning officers to reject the proposals.

The land was first touted as a quarry site in 2014 as part of Nottinghamshire County Council's local mineral plan.
