New tram bridge 'ghost' stop may need strengthening

A MAJOR Nottingham bridge may need strengthening if a “ghost” tram stop serving the Broad Marsh is to open 20 years after it was built.

The Broad Marsh stop was designed as part of the first phase of the NET network when it was built in the early 2000s, with the option for operators to open it as demand grew.

The stop has never been used, but its foundation remains visible, with the pavement on both sides of the tram line widening significantly just before the bridge over Sussex Street joins Middle Hill.
