Gold adds to record run on high demand

Gold hit another record high on Wednesday, consolidating gains above the $3,500 level on growing expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut this month and concerns over US tariff policy and the independence of its central bank.

Spot gold was up 0.4% at $3,547.27 per ounce as of 1132 GMT. US gold futures for December delivery gained 0.6% to $3,613.30.
