DYLAN
Rees was like any other boy his age. The “kind, funny and energetic” 14-year-old was running around football pitches with his friends, going to school and having fun with his family.A massive Cardiff City supporter and season ticket holder, Dylan would spend his weekends going to the games.
He was often tired and had the occasional headache, which his family put down to spending too much time on his Xbox and phone, but was an otherwise happy and healthy teenager.
Then in February, Dylan fainted while he was visiting a relative and within days the family, from Ystrad, Rhondda, were shocked by the devastating news that their boy had a cancerous brain tumour.
“We didn’t realise anything was wrong,” his mum Kathryn said.
He came back around quickly but Kathryn decided it would be best to take him to the GP, who thought it could be a sign of Dylan’s epilepsy returning, and recommended he either to go to hospital or send off some blood tests.
