MARION MCMULLEN discovers how Kevin and Perry made the switch from television to cinemas 25 years ago

BEST mates Kevin and Perry were propelled to movie stardom 25 years ago with the release of holiday film Kevin & Perry Go Large.

The hormonal teenagers, played by Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke, first appeared on 90s BBC sketch show Harry Enfield & Chums along with characters such as Wayne and Waynetta Slob, Tory Boy and Tim Nice-But-Dim.

Kathy is said to have based Perry on her friend EastEnders actor Perry Fenwick and the characters proved so popular that in 2000 they starred in their own film.
