AMMANFORD secured their third successive victory in the South Wales Premier Cricket League with a six-wicket win at Ynystawe.
-
Rain reduced the match to 25 overs each, and Ammanford skipper Rhys Davies challenged the home side to bat first.
Ynystawe got off to a tremendous start with a half-century stand inside five overs between openers Tom Blake (38) and Nathan Lee (27).
Subsequent contributions from Thomas Morgan (28) and Hamdan Tahir (21) helped keep the score moving at over six an over as Ynystawe reached 169 all out.
The total would have been higher were it not for some fine bowling from Tom Bevan (4-17), helped by Jac Kenchington (2-24) and Owen Davies (2-27).
Ammanford opener Dan Roberts went for 22, and the stage was set for the game's defining 127-run partnership between man of the match Bevan (90) and inform Owain Baxter (39).
Three wickets fell for six runs, but Ammanford secured the win with two overs to spare.
The result leaves Ammanford just outside the top half of the table and they will hope to continue their fine form when they face Pontarddulais at Ffosyrefail on Saturday.
Neath remain at the top of Premier League 2 after a six-wicket win over Dafen Welfare at The Gnoll.
Skipper Scott Phillips scored 52 as the Llanelli side reached 123-8 in their 28 overs.
Luke O'Connor added 35.
Neath eased to their target with four overs to spare with Jash Giyana-ni unbeaten on 45.
Gareth Thomas was the star of the show as Carmarthen Wanderers won by 58 runs at Port Talbot Town.
