■GREAT to hear that almost 200,000 carers forced to pay draconian penalties of as much as £20,000 relating to Carer's Allowance overpayments are to be reimbursed or have their debts reduced.

In what is seen as “the righting of scandal”, the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) will reassess cases from 2015.

It comes in wake of an independent review by the former disability rights campaigner Liz Sayce.
